Highway 2 to close overnight Friday
If weather permits, eastbound Highway 2 between Interstate 5 and Highway 204 east of Everett will be completely closed overnight Friday while workers re-stripe a trestle to create two lanes of traffic and a wider highway shoulder.
If weather permits, eastbound Highway 2 between Interstate 5 and Highway 204 east of Everett will be completely closed overnight Friday while workers re-stripe a trestle to create two lanes of traffic and a wider highway shoulder.
Drivers will be required to take other routes to avoid a lengthy detour, and that will likely mean extra trip time.
Crews will start closing the onramps to eastbound Highway 2 at 9:30 p.m. The eastbound trestle will be closed by midnight. One traffic lane and the onramp from northbound I-5 will reopen at 7 a.m. Saturday. All lanes and onramps to eastbound Highway 2 will be opened at noon.
To avoid a nearly 20-mile detour, northbound I-5 drivers can take 128th Street in Mill Creek; southbound I-5 drivers can take Fourth Street in Marysville and connect with Highway 9.
The North Creek Trail from just north of Highway 522 on the University of Washington's Bothell/Cascadia Community College Campus to where it connects with the Sammamish River Trail in Bothell will be closed from 6 a.m. Monday through 4 p.m. next Friday for work to widen the bridge above the trail. Detour signs will be posted.
