Everett police and agents from the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were executing search and arrest warrants today in Snohomish County following a nine-month investigation into gangs, guns and drugs.

ATF Special Agent Nick Starcevic said more than a dozen people were being sought. Several have already been arrested, including two men who appeared in U.S. District Court in Seattle this afternoon on charges of conspiracy to distribute heroin, distribution of heroin and possession of an unregistered machine gun.

Details of the charges filed against David Hinojosa and Kenneth Solberg were not immediately available.

The ATF and police will announce the arrests in a news conference Thursday in Everett.

Starcevic said the investigation resulted in the confiscation of cash, weapons and a variety of drugs. A number of those targeted are purported gang members, said Starcevic.
