Ruby Chow
SEATTLE (AP) - Ruby Chow, the matriarch of Seattle's large Chinese-American community, died Wednesday. She was 87.
Family members said the restaurateur and politician died at her Seattle home of heart failure.
Chow was born in Seattle in 1920. In 1948, she and her husband opened Ruby Chow's Restaurant, a landmark that attracted celebrities and politicians. Among those who worked at her restaurant was a young Bruce Lee, the actor and martial artist.
Chow worked to integrate Seattle and to help Chinese immigrants. She served three terms on the King County Council before retiring in 1985.

Agata Mroz-Olszewska
WARSAW, Poland (AP) - Agata Mroz-Olszewska, a two-time women's European volleyball champion, died Wednesday. She was 26.
She died of an infection two weeks after a bone marrow transplant, said Alicja Chybicka, a doctor at the Bone Marrow Transplantation Clinic in Wroclaw.
Mroz was a member of Poland's European Championship-winning team in 2003 and '05. She ended her career in 2007 because of the progressing bone marrow illness.
Mroz-Olszewska gave birth to a healthy girl in April.
