BAGHDAD, Iraq — A U.S. Marine was killed in a suicide car bombing in a village west of Baghdad, the military said yesterday.
The Marine, assigned to Regimental Combat Team 8, 2nd Marine Division, was killed Saturday in Amiriyah, a few miles south of Fallujah, the statement said. Fallujah is 40 miles west of Baghdad.
Earlier yesterday, the military reported that two Army soldiers died in another bombing Saturday.
The deaths bring to at least 30 the number of American service members to die in Iraq since the beginning of this month.
At least 1,828 U.S. military personnel have died since the Iraq war began in March 2003, according to an Associated Press count.
