BAGHDAD, Iraq — Two U.S. soldiers were killed — one by a bomb and the other by small-arms fire, in a roadside ambush yesterday southwest of the capital, the military reported.
The deaths brought to at least 1,495 the number of U.S. service members who have died since the beginning of the Iraq war in March 2003, according to an Associated Press count.
At least 1,130 died as a result of hostile action, according to the Defense Department.
