BAGHDAD, Iraq — Two Marines were killed yesterday south of Baghdad in the northern part of Babil province, a Marine spokesman said.

The military also reported that an Army soldier died yesterday in a traffic accident north of Baghdad.

As of yesterday, at least 1,239 members of the U.S. military have died since the beginning of the Iraq war in March 2003, according to an Associated Press count. At least 963 died as a result of hostile action, the Defense Department said.
