Bombs claim two U.S. soldiers

BAGHDAD, Iraq — A U.S. soldier was killed yesterday when an Army patrol was attacked with a homemade bomb near the town of Tuz, 105 miles north of Baghdad, the U.S. military said.

The military announced that another U.S. soldier died yesterday of wounds received Oct. 1 in a roadside bombing in Baghdad. As of yesterday, 1,066 members of the U.S. military have died since the United States invaded Iraq in March 2003. Of those, 811 died as a result of hostile action.

The British military has reported 67 deaths; Italy, 19; Poland, 13; Spain, 11; Ukraine, eight; Bulgaria, six; Slovakia, three; Thailand, two; the Netherlands, two; and Denmark, El Salvador, Estonia, Hungary and Latvia have reported one death each.
