Mike McCready, Matt Cameron, Star Anna give a 'Hootenanny' about the Gulf
Playing in Seattle's "Hootenanny for a Healthy Gulf" benefit are Pearl Jam's Mike McCready and Matt Cameron, alt-rocker Star Anna and a few of her Laughing Dogs, Mark Pickerel, Tim DiJulio and others, all at the Moore Theatre on Sept. 2.
It would be enough that Thursday night's "Hootenanny for a Healthy Gulf" at the Moore Theatre will reunite Seattle's beloved Fastbacks — including the incomparable Kim Warnick and Duff McKagan, who last played drums with them at age 15 before going on to power Guns N' Roses and his current band, Loaded.
But a benefit for the Gulf Restoration Network's cleanup of the biggest oil spill in American history calls for some big names — and organizer Debra Heesch got them.
Pearl Jam's Mike McCready and Matt Cameron. Alt-rocker Star Anna and a few of her Laughing Dogs. Mark Pickerel. Tim DiJulio. McKagan's Loaded bandmate Jeff Rouse. Kim Virant. Kristin Ward and Gary Westlake. And, since this is Seattle, a few surprises.
The music will be accompanied by a silent auction, an audience sing-a-long and an appearance by Edgar Hansen and Matt Bradley from the crab vessel The Northwestern, who will talk about their experience viewing the disaster, the current condition of the Gulf and the people whose livelihoods were ruined by the BP spill.
7:30 p.m. Thursday, 1932 Second Ave., Seattle; $20-$25 (877-784-4849 or www.stgpresents.org).
