Musical convergence: Ani DiFranco, Shonen Knife, Ghostface Killah and more in Seattle
Seattle's weekend will be full of music, including Ani DiFranco, Shonen Knife, Visqueen, Ghostface Killah and Blitzen Trapper.
Seattle Times staff reporter
Gossip and Brandi Carlile are just the beginning. The city will be flooded with music this weekend — from pop to punky, rock to rap and folk to funky. So Seattle, be prepared — bring your ear plugs and dancing shoes.
• Ani DiFranco — Fierce feminist folkstress Ani DiFranco plays her righteous tunes. 8 p.m. Saturday, The Moore Theatre, 1932 Second Ave., Seattle; $35 (877-784-4849 or www.stgpresents.com). Listen at www.myspace.com/anidifranco.
• Shonen Knife and Visqueen — Kurt Cobain was a fan of Shonen Knife, a Japanese rock trio that emulates The Ramones. And melodic rock band Visqueen is a local favorite. 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Tractor Tavern, 5213 Ballard Ave. N.W., Seattle; $15 (1-866-468-7623 or ticketweb.com).
• Ghostface Killah — The Wu-Tang Clan member recently departed from his hard-hitting raps with an R&B record, collaborating with John Legend and Estelle. 8 p.m. Saturday, Showbox at the Market, 1426 First Ave., Seattle; $20 (800-745-3000 or www.ticketmaster.com).
• Blitzen Trapper — The Portland folk rock band makes one sentimental for times long past. 9 p.m. Sunday, Neumo's, 925 E. Pike St., Seattle; $14 (800-992-8499 or ticketwest.com).
