A tradition, actually a big part of being from around here, is trekking to Puyallup every year for the fair.
There's something rejuvenating about petting llamas, watching pigs race and catching a concert or two. The entertainment runs the gamut. There's a rodeo, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Heart, Coheed and Cambria, and Third Day.
And you don't want to miss out on the fair food. The scrumptious scones are available only at the fair. Then there's the wonderfully fattening snacks like elephant ears, funnel cake and the gleefully greasy block of fries.
To help you plan your trip to the fair, here's the concert lineup:
Jason Aldean
The country singer is known for such hits as "Johnny Cash" and "Laughed Until We Cried." His single "Big Green Tractor" held on to the top of the Billboard Country Songs chart for more than three months.
6:30 p.m. today at Pro Rodeo ($30-50) and 9 p.m. concert ($30) today
Crosby, Stills & Nash
The trio is still together after 40 years of politically charged folk-rock.
7:30 p.m. Monday ($31-$61)
Rodney Atkins with Julianne Hough
Country singer Atkins has scored four No. 1 hits on the Billboard Country Songs chart — "If You're Going Through Hell," "Watching You," "These Are My People" and "Cleaning This Gun."
Besides winning "Dancing with the Stars" twice, Hough sings country-pop. Her self-titled debut album, released May 2008, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart.
7:30 p.m. Tuesday ($20-$45)
Coheed and Cambria, Brand New, Jaguar Love
Progressive and indie-rock reign this night.
7 p.m. Wednesday ($25-$37)
Newsboys
The Australian Christian rock band is known for such beautiful praise songs as "Shine" and "Entertaining Angels."
7:30 p.m. Thursday ($15-$35)
James Taylor
Grammy-winning folk-rock singer-songwriter Taylor has inspired the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Sting, Bonnie Raitt, India. Arie, Sheryl Crow and the Dixie Chicks.
7:30 p.m. Sept. 19 ($30-$65)
Wynonna with the Tacoma Symphony Orchestra
The charismatic country songstress performs with the local orchestra, which has been around for more than 60 years.
7:30 p.m. Sept. 21 ($15-$50)
Sixties Spectacular: Tommy James and The Shondells, Herman's Hermits starring Peter Noone and Felix Cavaliere's Rascals

Sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson are Seattle rock royalty.
7:30 p.m. Sept. 23 ($20-$50)
Dave Koz and Brian Culbertson
This set is all about contemporary jazz with pop saxophonist Koz and instrumentalist Culbertson.
7:30 p.m. Sept. 24 ($15-$40)
LeAnn Rimes
Although recently stung by troubling news of her divorce, the talented country songstress achieved fame early on, singing since the age of 2.
7:30 p.m. Sept. 25 ($15-$50)
Third Day / tobyMac
With Mac Powell's gravelly voice and passionate songs, Third Day is a favorite among Christian-rock enthusiasts. And tobyMac mixes it up with his blend of rock, rap and pop.
7:30 p.m. Sept. 26 ($20-$50)
Disney's High School Musical
The much-hyped musical has come to the fair. Find out what your tweens are screaming about.
