Kenny Chesney will preview his giant Aug. 1 stadium concert with a smaller show the night before. Chesney, a top-selling country artist who was recently named Entertainer of the Year by the Academy of Country Music, will perform a warm-up at Qwest on July 31.
You can't buy tickets to the free warm-up show. The audience for the smaller, hourlong July 31 event will be filled by radio-station-ticket giveaways (through 94.1 KMPS FM and The Wolf 100.7 FM), and tickets randomly distributed to people who already hold tickets to the Aug. 1 concert (more details are at the Web site (www.kennychesney.com).
Chesney's Aug. 1 concert extravaganza starts at 4 p.m. at Qwest Field, 800 Occidental Ave. S. in Seattle, part of the Sun City Carnival tour, with Sugarland, Montgomery Gentry, Miranda Lambert and Lady Antebellum on the bill. Tickets: $20-$195 (800-745-3000 or www.ticketmaster.com).
