King Cobra nightclub to close

Seattle's King Cobra nightclub is slated to close.

Seattle Times arts writer

King Cobra, a nightclub on Seattle's Capitol Hill, will be closing by Friday.

The demise of another Seattle nightclub was confirmed by DJ Gene Balk, who talked recently with King Cobra booker Justin Wojslaw. Balk, who also works as a news researcher at The Seattle Times, had been presenting "Talcum," an evening of soul music that's an offshoot of the Emerald City Soul Club at King Cobra.

According to Balk, attendance at King Cobra had been good lately, but the club reportedly was carrying a debt load that it could not pay down.
