Bumbershoot adds Ludacris and more

Bumbershoot has added some notable acts to its Labor Day weekend schedule — Ludacris, Mike Doughty, Kid Sister and Man Man. This is in addition to the already sweet lineup that includes Beck, Stone Temple Pilots and Lucinda Williams. More acts will be announced over the next few months. Former Seattleite Thomas Wallach has won an online contest called "First Tracks: The Search For America's Best Musical Talent," sponsored by Decca Label Group and Gather.com.

The pianist has been compared to Rufus Wainwright for his eclectic blend of cabaret and pop vocals. Known as Tommy, he has been playing piano since the age of 7. He is distinct for his French lyrics and his ability to play the guitar, mandolin and melodicas. To listen to his music, go to www.gather.com and search for "Wallach."

If you've had a yen to don a toga and parade around like Julius Caesar, the gods are with you. Seattle Art Museum is hosting a blowout 35-hour grand finale to "Roman Art from the Louvre" on May 10-11, with music and roving performers (watch out for gladiators). Wear a toga and get 10 percent off purchases at the gift shop. For night owls who prefer their art in the wee hours, there's another payoff: Admission is half price between 2 and 7 a.m. Sunday morning. (As always, admission is free to members and children under 12.) Moms get a free mother's day gift on Sunday.

Bothell girl in "Shrek"

Bothell resident Keaton Whittaker, 11, has been chosen to play the role of Young Fiona in the Seattle engagement of "Shrek the Musical."

Whittaker, who attends King's Elementary School, will appear here in the world-premiere run of the new show at Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre, set for Aug. 14-Sept. 21. "Shrek the Musical" is slated to open on Broadway in December.
