"Taste of Chaos Tour"
With Avenged Sevenfold, Atreyu, Bullet for My Valentine, Blessthefall, MUCC, D'espairsRay, the Underneath, Idiot Pilot, 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, WaMu Theater at the Qwest Field Event Center, 800 Occidental Ave., Seattle; $28.25 (206-628-0888 or www.ticketmaster.com; information, www.wamutheater.com).The Chaos stops here.
The last date of the 43-city, U.S. leg of the international "Taste of Chaos Tour" is Tuesday at WaMu Theater, and you've got to wonder if the bands have any energy left. The headliners — Avenged Sevenfold, Atreyu, Bullet for My Valentine and Blessthefall — are all hard-core screamo bands who push it to the limit every night.
Also on the bill are the hard-core Japanese bands MUCC (pronounced "mukku"), D'espairsRay and the Underneath, all of which will have to work hard to win over the audience, because the bands are unknown here.
Rounding out the bill is the Bellingham duo Idiot Pilot, made up of singer-guitarist Michael Harris and multi-instrumentalist/screamer Daniel Anderson.
While the singers' voices in each of the bands may be shredded after so many shows, the musicianship should be extra tight. Last-of-tour shows almost always have a special vibe, as the bands have one last chance to show what they can do, and usually pull out all the stops. Such shows are also prone to practical jokes, especially for the headlining band.
Avenged Sevenfold is the only band to have headlined the Warped Tour, Ozzfest and Taste of Chaos (now in its fourth year). It's known for its guitar interplay and for mixing screaming and real singing. And also tattoos.
Atreyu is touring behind the biggest hit album of its career, "Lead Sails Paper Anchor." An extended version of the disc, with new songs and video content, will be released April 22.
Bullet for My Valentine represents English hard-core, and will feature songs from its new album, "Scream Aim Fire."
Blessthefall, from Arizona, became widely known via its video for "Guys Like You Make Us Look Bad," a favorite on MTV. The powerful band always energizes the mosh pit.
