Surgery halts Rosanne Cash tour

Compiled from Seattle Times staff and news services.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Rosanne Cash is facing brain surgery for a rare but benign condition and must cancel the last four dates on her "Black Cadillac" tour.

The announcement was made Tuesday by Cash's music label. She is expected to make a full recovery and resume touring next spring.

"She does want everyone to know that it's a benign condition, and it's not life-threatening," her manager said. "It's elective surgery."

Cash is the daughter of the late country star Johnny Cash. Her hits include "Seven Year Ache" and "The Way We Make a Broken Heart."

Vegas marquees light up for Goulet

LAS VEGAS — Robert Goulet's name appeared for years on the marquees of the Las Vegas Strip and will be there again the day of his funeral.

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority has asked hotel-casinos to honor the late singer and actor by featuring his name on their marquees Friday.

The big-voiced baritone died Oct. 30 in Los Angeles of pulmonary fibrosis while awaiting a lung transplant.

Meat Loaf cancels European tour

LONDON — Meat Loaf has canceled a European tour after developing a cyst on his vocal cords.

The 56-year-old rocker will have vocal therapy before doctors decide if he needs surgery, said a statement posted on his Web site Tuesday.

He had already scrapped several dates on the "Three Bats" tour after walking off the stage in Newcastle last week during "Paradise by the Dashboard Light."

"It really breaks my heart not to be able to perform these shows," he said. "But I have to do what the doctors tell me so I can look forward to healing and coming back strong in 2008."

ALSO: Giada De Laurentiis, star of Food Network's "Everyday Italian" and "Giada's Weekend Getaways" says she is expecting her first child, a baby girl, in April.

De Laurentiis, 37, is the granddaughter of film producer Dino De Laurentiis.
