Bumbershoot basics

Festival information: 206-281-7788 or www.bumbershoot.org.

Hours: 11 a.m.-11 p.m. today.

Admission: $35, at most Western Washington Starbucks stores or through cash, at-the-door sales at two Seattle Center gates starting at 10:30 a.m.: Gate 6 (off Mercer Street, between the Bagley Wright and Intiman theaters) and Gate 1 (off Thomas Street on the south side of Experience Music Project). There's a $3.50 service charge for debit- or credit-card purchases at the gate.

Discounts: At the gate only, you can purchase $10 tickets for ages 6-10 accompanied by an adult, 65 and older, and patrons with disabilities. Ages 5 and younger free.

Mainstage tickets: Entry to evening Mainstage shows requires a free pass, available while supplies last from information booths inside festival grounds (one pass per person).

Getting there: Public transportation is recommended. Catch the Monorail at Westlake Center downtown (www.seattlemonorail.com), or take the Metro bus (www.transit.metrokc.gov or 206-553-3000). In addition to regular bus service, a $2 Bumbershoot shuttle runs from the Northgate Park-and-Ride lot at Northeast 112th Street and Fifth Avenue Northeast, and from the Northgate Transit Center at First Avenue Northeast and Northeast 103rd Street (the return trip for the Northgate shuttles boards on eastbound Mercer Street, just east of Third Avenue North). The Bumbershoot Bicycle Corral is on Thomas Street between EMP/SFM and the Space Needle.
