Winners announced for the 3 Minute Masterpiece digital-film contest, sponsored by The Seattle Times and Seattle International Film Festival.

For this year's 3 Minute Masterpiece digital film contest, nearly 50 intrepid filmmakers shot short movies on their cellphones. Then they uploaded them to YouTube, and the judges — comprised of representatives from Seattle International Film Festival and The Seattle Times — chose their favorites.

The contest winners are:

Adam Bale and Alec Whittle, "Big Man's Pride"

David Brunn, "The Journey India 2010"

Susan Burns, "One Lonely Cent"

Max Miller, "The New Winter Olympics"

Cameron Moore, "The Loneliest Day"

Mark Ramquist, "Dangerous Game"

Gerald F. Rivas, "A Man Who Got Ahead"

Stephanie Sundier, "The Laurel"

McKenna Taylor, "Harriet Tubman — The Early Years"

Jeff Warner, "I Love You, Too"

Maxx Yamasaki, "In Beginning"

A free, public screening of the winning films will be held at Seattle International Film Festival at 11 a.m. on Memorial Day (May 31) at SIFF Cinema. A grand prize winner will be named at the screening, as will the winner of the J. Michael Rima award for young filmmakers.

Look for a complete story about the winners and their films in the B section of The Seattle Times on Thursday, May 20, the opening day of SIFF 2010.
