New DVDs | 'Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs,' 'Whatever Works,' 'Orphan,' 'Nothing Like the Holidays,' 'Il Divo'
New DVDs being released Tuesday, Oct. 27, include "Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs' and 'Orphan.'
Family, friends and one scary "Orphan" gather on DVD today. Star ratings are by Seattle Times movie reviewers, freelancers or wire services (for full reviews, search the movie title at seattletimes.com).
"Il Divo" (unrated): Toni Servillo stars as Italy's scandal-ridden prime minister, Giulio Andreotti, in Paolo Sorrentino's biographical fantasy. In Italian, with English subtitles.
"Nothing Like the Holidays" (PG-13): Alfredo De Villa's holiday movie features a family (Alfred Molina, Elizabeth Peña, John Leguizamo, Debra Messing) with a lot of baggage.
"Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs" (PG): The animated series' third entry — about prehistoric pals who discover a lost world — adds Simon Pegg as a deranged weasel to the comic mix.
"Whatever Works" (PG-13): Woody Allen returns to New York for this comedy involving a 60-something curmudgeon (Larry David) and a beautiful runaway (Evan Rachel Wood).
"Orphan" (R, 123 minutes): Peter Sarsgaard and Vera Farmiga play the adoptive parents of a seemingly innocent 9-year-old (Isabelle Fuhrman) in Jaume Collet-Serra's horror flick.
