If you're looking forward to the new "Star Trek," the staff of Seattle's Scarecrow Video suggests the following for further viewing — all available on DVD:

Before winning an Oscar for "Slumdog Millionaire," director Danny Boyle helmed "Sunshine," a sleek, sci-fi thriller about a team of scientists on a dire mission to recharge the prematurely dying sun. It stars Cillian Murphy (Scarecrow from "Batman Begins"), Rose Byrne ("Knowing") and the great Michelle Yeoh ("Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon").

Gerry Anderson's late '70s series "Space: 1999" stars Martin Landau and Barbara Bain as residents of Moonbase Alpha, who were all going about their normal living-on-the-moon business when a nuclear accident sends them hurdling out of orbit and into the depths of uncharted space.

Or revisit the original series with 1973-74's "Star Trek: The Animated Series," featuring most of the cast reprising their roles in all new adventures.
