"Encounters at the End of the World" (G): Werner Herzog's poetic documentary examines life in Antarctica, and the loners and dreamers who live there.
"Gonzo: The Life and Work of Hunter S. Thompson" (R): Alex Gibney turns his lens on the Rolling Stone reporter who never let a little thing like journalistic objectivity get in his way.
"WALL• E" (G): Pixar's nearly wordless animated tale of a lonely robot, busily compacting garbage on a human-free Earth, is a mix of sci-fi adventure, wistful romance and a dash of "Hello, Dolly!"
"The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2" (PG-13): The sequel to the 2005 film continues the story of four best friends (Alexis Bledel, Blake Lively, America Ferrera, Amber Tamblyn), one year post-high-school, who stay connected through a pair of magic jeans that are, mysteriously, never too small.
"Tropic Thunder" (R): This movie-within-a-movie comedy stars Ben Stiller (who also directed), Robert Downey Jr. and Jack Black as spoiled actors who become entangled in real-life peril while making a war film in the jungles of Southeast Asia.
