DVDs released this week

A weekly listing of new DVDs.

Here are some of today's DVD releases. Star ratings are by Seattle Times movie reviewers, freelancers or wire services (for full reviews, go to www.seattletimes.com/movies).

3.5 stars "The Counterfeiters" (R), 2007's Academy Award winner for best foreign-language film. The Austrian holocaust drama, directed by Stefan Ruzowitzky, follows a genius-level forger (Karl Markovics) recruited to help the Nazis.

3.5 stars"Pete Seeger: The Power of Song" (suitable for general audiences), Jim Brown's documentary on the life, times and music of the folk singer and political activist.

3 stars"Nim's Island" (PG), a family adventure film starring Jodie Foster as an agoraphobic novelist who ventures out to help a girl (Abigail Breslin) living on a remote South Pacific island. Directed by Mark Levin and Jennifer Flackett.

2.5 stars "Starship Troopers" (R), starring Casper Van Dien and lots of alien bugs that go splat. It's accompanied by the debut of "Starship Troopers 3: Marauder" and the previous small-screen sequel "Starship Troopers: Hero of the Federation."

"I Got the Feelin': James Brown in the '60s," featuring the godfather of soul's concert in Boston the night after the assassination of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., as well as interviews and other footage.
