DVDs released this week include "The Great Debaters," "Mad Money"
A weekly listing of new DVDs.
Here are some of Tuesday's DVD releases. Star ratings are by Seattle Times movie reviewers, freelancers or wire services (for full reviews, go to www.seattletimes.com/movies).
"The Great Debaters" (PG-13), a tale about a college debate coach (Denzel Washington) who urges his students to seize the power of knowledge and words in the dangerously oppressive Jim Crow Texas of 1935. Washington also directs.
"Mad Money" (PG-13), Callie Khouri's crime comedy starring Diane Keaton, Queen Latifah, Katie Holmes.
"Youth Without Youth" (R), Francis Ford Coppola's first film in a decade. It stars Tim Roth as a 70-year-old professor who is struck by lightning and soon finds himself inexplicably growing younger.
"Untraceable" (R), with Diane Lane as an FBI cybercrime agent on the trail of a murderer, directed by Gregory Hoblit.
"Indiana Jones: The Adventure Collection," starring Harrison Ford in "Raiders of the Lost Ark," "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" and "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade." ("Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" opens in theaters Thursday.)
Frank Sinatra: "The Rat Pack Ultimate Collector's Edition" (includes "Ocean's 11," "4 for Texas," "Robin and the Seven Hoods" and "Sergeants 3"); The Golden Years" ("The Man With the Golden Arm," "None but the Brave," "Some Came Running," "The Tender Trap," "Marriage on the Rocks"); "The Early Years" ("Double Dynamite," "Higher and Higher," "Step Lively," "It Happened in Brooklyn," "The Kissing Bandit"); "The Frank Sinatra & Gene Kelly Collection" ("On the Town," "Take Me Out to the Ballgame," "Anchors Aweigh"); and "Sinatra," a miniseries about his life starring Philip Casnoff.
