Adobe joins Microsoft security program MAPP

Posted by Sharon Pian Chan

Adobe is joining Microsoft's computer-security alert program, the Microsoft Active Protections Program, also known as MAPP.

Microsoft made the announcement Wednesday at the annual Black Hat conference in Las Vegas.

Microsoft uses MAPP to alert security software makers about vulnerabilities that hackers are exploiting in Microsoft software. The 65 partners in the program get information ahead of "patch Tuesday," when Microsoft sends out software updates to customers to protect against new threats.

As a member, Adobe will also share information with the network to alert other companies about security threats popping up. Microsoft started the program in 2008.
