Bill Gates is on Twitter @billgates

Microsoft Chairman and co-founder Bill Gates is on Twitter. He uttered his first Tweet four hours ago, " 'Hello World.' Hard at work on my foundation letter - publishing on 1/25."
He has been verified by Twitter and already has 8,556 followers as of 3:30 p.m.
His followers grew by about 1,000 from 3:30 p.m. to 3:31 p.m.
He has also retweeted Ryan Seacrest and Time magazine on Haiti earthquake fundraising updates.
Who is Gates following? Ashley Tisdale, world health organizations, Ashton Kutcher (@aplusk), President Barack Obama.

Microsoft spokesman Lou Gellos confirmed that the company's chairman Bill Gates is behind the account.
