Microsoft Office 2010 coming out in June

Posted by Sharon Pian Chan

The next version of Office 2010 will come out in June, Microsoft said.

The suite of software, which includes Word, Powerpoint and Excel, is already available in beta form for anyone to download here.

What's new about Office is that it will include Office Web Apps, a free version of Office that will run in a Web browser -- similar to Google Docs. If you download the beta, you can also try out the new Web apps.

Office Mobile 2010 for smartphones is also set to come out then.

The company does not have an exact release date, but it does mean Office will start selling shortly before the end of Microsoft's 2010 fiscal year on June 30.
