Microsoft stores open in Scottsdale on Thursday, the OC on Oct. 29
Posted by Sharon Pian Chan
Microsoft will open its first retail store in Scottsdale, Ariz., on Thursday, the same day of the Windows 7 launch. The second store will open in Orange County on Oct. 29.
The Scottsdale store will be located at the Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall and the OC store will be at The Shops at Mission Viejo.
The company posted the information about the store openings on the Microsoft Web site today. Actress Ashley Tisdale will perform in Scottsdale and singer Justin Bieber will perform in Mission Viejo on the opening days.
Technically, they will be the second and third store, because the first one is located in Redmond on Microsoft's campus, but these are the first retail stores the company will open in a strategy copied from Apple. What they do have in common is that all are in affluent suburbs.
The tagline for the stores right now is:
Laptops. Software. Xbox 360s. Zunes. Games. The all-new Windows 7. And much more. There are many ways to use Microsoft products. And now there's a new place to find them all. The Microsoft Store.
