Report: Palm axes Windows Mobile

According to Silicon Alley Insider, Palm is going to stop making devices with Microsoft's mobile software. The report saysPalm CEO Jon Rubinstein announced it during Palm's earnings call today.
Palm has made some Treo mobile phones that ran on Windows Mobile. Microsoft just released a new version of the software, Windows Mobile 6.5. Here is the story we wrote on that.
It's not great news for Microsoft, as Palm just launched the closest thing to an iPhone competitor called the Palm Pre.
You may know Pre by its odd television ads, featuring an extraterrestrial, androgynous blond woman. One of the ads features a thousand Asian men, clearly borrowed from the Beijing Olympics opening ceremony. (The Toyota Prius ads featuring the people landscapes -- another ripoff of the Beijing Olympics closing ceremony.)
