Windows phones for sale Oct. 6

Posted by Sharon Pian Chan

The next version of Windows phones will go on sale Oct. 6. The phones will feature the new version of Windows Mobile 6.5 software.

Microsoft saysthe new software will be easier to use, is better for browsing and has better access to pay services such as Windows Marketplace.

Several partners have signed up, the company said in a press release. Carriers include AT&T, Bell Mobility, Sprint, Telus and Verizon Wireless in North America. Device makers include HP, HTC, LG Electronics, Samsung and Toshiba.

I will keep researching this story today. The big question is whether Microsoft has an iPhone killer.
