Lunch break: The Oompa Loompa jingle for Microsoft's Bing

Posted by Sharon Pian Chan

Microsoft's search engine Bing has announced the winner of its Bing Jingle contest:"Bing Goes the Internet."

TechCrunch spotted the winner, and immediately dubbed it the "worst jingle ever." The winner is Jonathan Mann, who also recorded a video of himself dancing to the jingle. He's known on YouTube as "The Rock Cookie Bottom." Mann won a $500 prize.

I would hesitate to call it the worst jingle ever, a title I would give to Toyota's "Saved by Zero" TV ad campaign. The "Bing Goes the Internet" video looks a lot like an Oompa Loompa song and dance from Tim Burton's 2005 film remake of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory." Check out the two below, plus the Toyota ad.
