Steven Sinofsky promoted to head of Windows at Microsoft

Steven Sinofsky has been promoted to president of the Windows division at Microsoft. Sinofsky was leading the Windows and Windows Live Engineering Group and working on bringing Windows 7 to market on Oct. 22. He first joined Microsoft in 1989.
Tami Reller, chief financial officer for the Windows group, will take on marketing responsibilities as well. Bill Veghte, who had been doing marketing for Windows, is moving to a new leadership role. It's unclear what that will be.
Jon De Vaan, senior vice president, will continue in that job and report to Sinofsky.
