WASHINGTON — A Microsoft device that federal regulators are testing to see if it will safely transmit high-speed Internet service over unused television airwaves "unexpectedly shut down," the company said Friday.
The company did not provide a reason, but it is the third time the Federal Communications Commission has had problems with the company's devices, which broke once last year and in early February.
The devices are designed to help the FCC research and collect information on whether it is feasible to deliver broadband service over airwaves known as "white spaces" without interfering with TV programming.
