Seattle piano man Perfume Genius (Mike Hadreas) will release his new album "Put Your Back N 2 It" Feb. 21 on Matador Records. "Hood" is the single, built on piano chords arranged in a durable pattern and a rousing chorus with lyrics about self-consciousness stemming from a dark past. My favorite parts of the video are Hadreas angrily accepting lipstick from co-star Arpad Miklos and doing the first gang sign you learn in the suburbs (spelling "blood" with your fingers).
