Portland dance act/positivity zealot YACHT at the (always all-ages) Vera Project

Posted by Andrew Matson

The man, mystery, and machine that is YACHT plays the Vera Project tonight in support of new album "See Mystery Lights."

"Lights" is equal parts nerdy, arty, and party, but something deeper is purported to be going on behind its rigidly arranged sound collages. Purported by YACHT's brainfather, Jona Bechtolt, that is. That deeper something is obscure to me, but seems vaguely religious, and not in a God-type way. It's analyzed in depth by Eric Grandy here. Suffice it to say the rhetoric YACHT surrounds itself with is ultra posi-core.

Here's my favorite "See Mystery Lights" song, "I'm in Love with a Ripper":

Question: Did that song make you think of "I'm in Love with a Stripper" by T-Pain?
