Seattle band Unnatural Helpers played while Billy the Fridge won a doughnut eating contest at Top Pot

Posted by Andrew Matson

Did you see Mark Rahner's competitive eating video? I thought for sure The Seattle Times' resident snark hero would be under the monorail today at Top Pot for the five-minute eat-off, but no. Maybe next year we'll soak up the fun together. Soak it up like a doughnut in a bowl of water.

That's the trick, I guess. Soak your doughnut in water. Everybody was doing it.

I had a perfectly good time listening to Unnatural Helpers play super-loud rock (lyrics: "eat, piggy, eat") while watching Billy the Fridge defend his title. He ate 9 doughnuts, from what I understand, and Top Pot's are weightier than average by far.

Local music labels Light in the Attic, Hardly Art, Sub Pop, Suicide Squeeze, and Barsuk were on hand with representatives behind merch tables, selling wares, and also behind stacks of doughnuts, challenging Billy the Fridge.

Buncha skinny music nerds versus Billy the Fridge in a doughnut eating contest? Come on...
