We're having a rather cool morning here in Peoria, Ariz. today, with temperatures expected to stay this way for much of the week.

Back by popular demand, here's our Around the Blogosphere feature, with a look at some of the happenings in cyberspace involving the Mariners. First off, the Seattle Times has actually ramped up its spring training coverage this year -- which is good, since it means you won't be stuck reading all of my stuff.

But former Times reporter Jose Romero, now freelancing for Associated Press here in Arizona, where his wife works for the city of Phoenix, is co-ordinating an internship program of Arizona State University journalism students. Those students will be on-site here in Peoria for several weeks, co-ordinating extra blog-type items like video interviews with players.

Here are two such interviews, done with Alex Liddi and Dustin Ackley. Here is another, talking about the conditioning done by Mariners players in the off-season.

Moving off the Times site, over at Seattle Sports Insider, author Jeff Clarke takes a look at Mariners pitching prospects Danny Hultzen and James Paxton and compares their styles to those of other lefties in baseball over the years. Clarke doesn't just write one post, but tends to have a series of them related to the same topic. So, keep on clicking the links at the end of each post to continue on to the next one. Here's a hint: the two pitchers come off looking rather good.

Over at Lookout Landing, they link to a Jeff Sullivan piece at Baseball Nation on The Ten Worst Swings of the 2011 season. No, not just Mariners swings. Everybody in baseball. For more Mariner-related content, Sullivan posts gifs showing some of the more impossible-to-hit pitches that Ichiro somehow managed to turn into hits.

At U.S.S. Mariner, Jay Yencich has his second annual look at how the Mariners have rebuilt through the draft. Things are a little better, in his eyes, this year than they were last. He's still covering the tail end of the Bill Bavasi/Bob Fontaine era, so things are naturally pretty bleak given the scarcity of MLB talent to come through the ranks via draft picks during those years.
