View replay of Geoff Baker Live! with Bill James

Posted by Geoff Baker

Great show tonight, folks. Really impressed with the questions, as was our guest, Bill James, who rarely does any type of television. You could tell he was really starting to open up on some topics. I hope you all had fun. It was very interesting to hear James and his takes on what 2010 holds for the Mariners. Here's a hint: he isn't reserving playoff tickets for Safeco Field. Hear it on the clip I've provided. Later, he goes into detail on what he thinks the Mariners lack in their search for a division crown. And also, why he's bullish on the A's as a possible surprise team. But you'll have to listen to the entire interview for that information (hey, I'm new to this broadcast stuff, but not going to give everything away in these clips -- I still know how to tease).

I'm sure many of you had a hoot over what he had to say about Edgar Martinez and the Hall of Fame. Click on the link to see a highlight of that part of the show. Something for me to ponder.

Also, who would have guessed that he once pushed the Red Sox to acquire Rob Johnson? And of course, his take on clubhouse "chemistry" was very interesting. Remember, this is a guy once on the outside looking in who has now been given a seat at the table by the Red Sox.

I always like to get these views from afar on the Mariners and how they are perceived. So, plenty to discuss out of tonight's show.
