Awaiting Milton Bradley and remembering the guy he was traded for

No, Milton Bradley is not due in until tomorrow. There's a uniform hanging by his locker though. He'll be right next to Mike Sweeney and just a couple of steps away from Ken Griffey Jr. Big surprise there.

An even bigger surprise for the Cubs last week was Carlos Silva showing up to camp and having his manager say he needed to "get in a little better shape.''

There has been some debate in the blogosphere about Silva's weight at the moment. I'll try to help. The top photo is the best I could find of Silva (Photo Credit: Bruce Miles/Daily Herald) in camp with the Cubs. Down below that, is a photo of him that I took exactly a year ago when he reported to camp some 30 pounds lighter. He was going about 255 back then, so you be the judge. The chin comparison keeps catching my eye.

Man, we've come a long way from last year's 300-yard shuttle run.

Nowadays, all I can think of is...tortoises!

Anyhow, we're here at the Peoria Sports Complex, but not much is going on. The crew here has asked the Mariners to stay off the fields as much as possible given all the heavy rainfall the past 24 hours. It's still overcast and cool this morning after some earlier rain. The Mariners had a team meeting begin about 15 minutes ago and we're not sure when it's going to end. No word yet on how the team will alter its workouts today.

Geoff Baker Live! will resume on Tuesday, once the full squad arrives and begins working out. Normally, it will be a Monday to Friday affair, but I have a commitment tomorrow night and so we will resume one day later.

For now, here's a replay of Friday's show.
