Ken Griffey Jr. raises 12th Man flag

With his son Trey watching, Mariners outfielder Ken Griffey Jr. raised the 12th Man flag before the Seahawks-Titans game on Sunday.

Although admitting to being more nervous about raising the flag than playing a baseball game, he was all smiles above the south end of Qwest Field.

"We're going in the right direction," Griffey said about the additions of Cliff Lee and Chone Figgins to the Mariners this offseason. "A couple more wins and (we're in) the postseason. I don't have anything planned until early November."

Griffey was also asked about the chances former Mariners designated hitter Edgar Martinez has of being elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame.

"It doesn't matter if you're a DH, you still got to go out there and do a job," Griffey said. "And he did it at the highest level for 10-15 years."
