Mariners officially announce Milton Bradley-Carlos Silva trade

The deal is done. Carlos Silva has been traded, along with cash, to the Chicago Cubs for Milton Bradley. Unbelievable turn of events.

"We have been looking to add offense to our club and in Milton have a player who has always gotten on base and has the ability to drive in runs," Mariners GM Jack Zduriencik said in a release by the club. "He is passionate about winning, as we are, and we believe he'll be a good fit here."

Zduriencik will address the media in a half-hour.

Want to know the best thing about this move? The Mariners just upgraded their offense with almost zero impact on their 2010 payroll. We're told it's around $6 million over two years. So, $3 million in 2010. That means the team still has significant cash left with which to improve other areas of the team.
