Some more good news for the Mariners where their minor leaguers are concerned. We've told you before how good the squad's Class A High Desert affiliate was in 2009. Well, lefty-hitting first baseman Joe Dunigan (on the left in photo) was good enough to be named today to the Topps Class A All-Star team after hitting .294 with 30 home runs and 104 RBI.

This caps a pretty good run for Mariners minor leaguers, since Class AA outfielder Ezequiel Carrera -- acquired in last year's J.J. Putz trade -- was named to the AA all-star squad last week, while Dunigan's teammate, Alex Liddi (striped shirt in photo below) made the all-minor-leagues all-star team as well.

Had a chance to see Dunigan, 23, in action in the Arizona Fall League, where he was playing alongside players much higher up the minor league ranks. Dunigan more than held his own, hitting .280 with three homers and an .816 on base plus slugging percentage in 75 at-bats. He was listed as an outfielder and a designated hitter throughout the AFL season.

In the photo above, you can see Dunigan in a dark shirt chatting in the dugout with Tyson Gillies when the Class A squad watched the M's take batting practice in Anaheim back in September.

The Chicago native was drafted by Seattle in the fifth round out of the University of Oklahoma in 2007.

This story in the Chicago Tribune last week talks about Dunigan being active on Twitter.
