New-look Mariners arrive in a new-look Yankee Stadium

The rather eery aspect to this whole new Yankee Stadium thing is that it looks surprisingly the same as the old place. Almost like they took a giant power-washer to the whole thing and chased the rats away.

That and added the wind tunnel to right field of course.

The new pressbox facility is much more comfy and roomy than the old one, I have to say. The dining room is also up here at pressbox level as opposed to the old place, where it was down in the basement at clubhouse level.

What's this got to do with the Mariners? Absolutely nothing. Other than the fact they've got a new-looking lineup out there. Let me tell you about it.

Ryan Langerhans is here, but he isn't in tonight's lineup. Ken Griffey Jr. is, and he's starting in left field.

"I'm filing a grievance,'' Griffey deadpanned. "I'm definitely filing a grievance. Two days in a row in the outfield, that's the best I can do for a week.''

Chris Woodward is indeed tonight's third baseman. Ronny Cedeno starts at shortstop.

RF Ichiro
1B Russell Branyan
2B Jose Lopez
LF Ken Griffey Jr.
DH Mike Sweeney
CF Franklin Gutierrez
3B Chris Woodward
C Kenji Johjima
SS Ronny Cedeno

RHP Brandon Morrow

I like the fact that Griffey is hitting clean-up tonight. Sure, he's 39, and his bat isnt what it used to be. But there are two MAJOR reasons...  Posted on June 30, 2009 at 1:33 PM by Frankie from NY. Jump to comment
7,8,9 has been weak all year, nothing new there. I don't mind Griffey and Sweeny both in the lineup, both have looked great lately....  Posted on June 30, 2009 at 2:22 PM by ANDY R. Jump to comment
I trust Wak and Jacky Z's decision making....now let's see if the players respond! Go M's!  Posted on June 30, 2009 at 1:32 PM by aliloc. Jump to comment
