Washington players drafted to MLB
Day 2 of the Major League Baseball draft
The Tampa Bay Rays, who took Washington high schoolers with two of their first three picks on Monday, continued the trend Tuesday in Day 2 of the Major League Baseball draft.
The Rays selected Highline High School infielder Ryan Brett in the third round, with the 98th overall pick. On Monday, Tampa Bay chose Bishop Blanchet outfielder Josh Sale with the 17th pick, then took Central Kitsap outfielder Drew Vettleson with a compensation pick after the first round, No. 41 overall.
A total of 21 players with Washington ties were drafted through 30 rounds. Seven of those were high school players, including Woodinville pitcher Luke Taylor, who was chosen by the Mariners in the ninth round. The draft concludes with rounds 31-50 Wednesday.
