Tim Raines Jr. leads Omaha past Tacoma Rainiers

Omaha overwhelmed a tired Tacoma Rainiers pitching staff in a 13-6 Pacific Coast League victory

TACOMA — Tim Raines Jr. hit two home runs and Brian Buchanan homered, doubled and drove in five runs, powering Omaha to a 13-6 Pacific Coast League win over the Tacoma Rainiers Thursday night at Cheney Stadium.

Raines Jr., a center fielder who came in batting only .225, went 3 for 4 with a double and four runs batted in.

Chris Shelton was 3 for 4 with two doubles and Bryan LaHair went 3 for 5 for the Rainiers (61-65).

Everett wins

EVERETT — Welington Dotel's two-run homer in the fourth inning put Everett ahead to stay as the AquaSox beat Salem-Keizer 5-3 in Northwest League baseball at Everett Memorial Stadium.

Dotel went 3 for 4 with three RBI and James Jones doubled twice and scored twice for the AquaSox (34-25).
