Big inning costs Rainiers in loss
Iowa's first six batters reached base in the fourth inning as the Cubs beat the Rainiers
TACOMA — The first six batters reached base during a five-run Iowa fourth inning, and the Cubs went on to beat Tacoma 7-4 Saturday night before 5,138 at Cheney Stadium.
Rainiers left-hander Chris Seddons (7-7) took a 3-1 lead into the fourth, but immediately ran into trouble. Steve Clevenger hit a two-run single and So Taguchi added a three-run double before Seddons got an out in the fourth.
Bryan LaHair and Mike Carp hit solo homers for the Rainiers (59-62). LaHair's homer was his 25th.
AquaSox fall
in 12 innings
BOISE, Idaho — George Matheus drove in the tiebreaking run with a two-out single in the 12th inning as Boise beat Everett 4-3 in the Northwest League.
Matthew Cerione and Juan Fuentes each had three hits for the AquaSox (32-23).
