Rainiers beat up in home loss to Sacramento
TACOMA — Sacramento's Matt Carson hit a grand slam in the seventh inning, and the Tacoma Rainiers lost to the visiting River Cats 11-6 in Pacific Coast League action Thursday night at Cheney Stadium.
One day after hitting four doubles in a victory, Rainiers first baseman Jeff Clement hit a home run, his 14th of the season, and a double. Outfielder Bryan LaHair added a homer, his 18th of the season. Rainiers starter Gaby Hernandez was roughed up in four innings of work.
Tacoma (46-52) starts a weekend series with Las Vegas tonight.
AquaSox lose
The Tri-City Dust Devils scored six runs in the first four innings and rolled past the Everett AquaSox 10-3 in a Northwest League game Thursday night at Everett Memorial Stadium.
Third baseman Mario Martinez drove in two runs for the AquaSox (21-12).
