3B Chris Shelton homers but Rainiers lose slugfest; Everett loses, 7-4
Third baseman Chris Shelton had a sixth-inning home run but the Tacoma Rainiers lost 12-6 to Reno on Tuesday afternoon in Pacific Coast League action
RENO, Nev. — Third baseman Chris Shelton had a sixth-inning home run but the Tacoma Rainiers lost 12-6 to Reno on Tuesday afternoon in Pacific Coast League action. The Aces (41-38) completed a series sweep of Tacoma (36-42).
Rainiers starter Jesus Delgado was tagged for seven runs in 2-2/3 innings and reliever Brodie Downs didn't fare much better, allowing five runs (three earned) in three innings of work.
Shelton's solo homer was his 12th of the season. He's hitting .320 with 59 runs batted in.
The Rainiers host Portland tonight at Cheney Stadium.
Everett 7, at Eugene 4
The Everett AquaSox improved to 6-5 on the season with a victory over the Emeralds in Northwest League play. Welington Dotel and Ben Billingsley homered for the AquaSox.
