TAMPA, Fla. — An ex-madam who used to provide prostitutes for former New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer provided similar services for third baseman Alex Rodriguez of the New York Yankees and dated him, the New York Daily News reported Sunday.
Former madam Kristin Davis, who served three months in jail and is on five years' probation after pleading guilty to promoting prostitution, spoke in generalities when reached by Newsday on Sunday.
"All I can say is, there is a connection," Davis said when asked about Rodriguez, a former Mariner.
Davis declined to comment on the specific allegations, saying she does "not talk about my personal life or who I date."
In the Daily News article, she intimated she was personally wooed by Rodriguez.
"Throughout the years, there were a number of clients that I befriended and it was not uncommon for them to want the women they can't have, whether it be the phone bookers or the madam," Davis said.
Rodriguez is divorced and has been linked romantically to pop icon Madonna. Rodriguez and Madonna have denied they are or were romantically involved, but A-Rod's former wife, Cynthia, cited his "long period of infidelity" in divorce papers.
The Daily News story included steamy e-mails, purportedly between Davis and Rodriguez. A Yankees spokesman said the team had no comment on the reports.
