NEW YORK — The remnants of Tropical Storm Hanna washed away the Philadelphia Phillies-New York Mets game Saturday afternoon and left in her wake one intriguing day-night doubleheader.
Want pitching? New York will start three-time Cy Young Award winner Pedro Martinez in the first game today at 11:15 a.m., and Johan Santana, winner of two Cy Youngs, in the 5:05 p.m. nightcap. The Phillies have a pretty good duo too, opting for crafty left-hander and former Mariner Jamie Moyer in the first game and lefty Cole Hamels for the second matchup.
Looking for hitting? Philadelphia features the past two NL MVPs, Ryan Howard and Jimmy Rollins, and New York's power-packed lineup includes David Wright, Carlos Beltran and a resurgent Carlos Delgado.
Oh, and the NL East-leading Mets are trying to hold off the defending division champion Phillies.
Today's games are the last two scheduled between the contenders this season.
Notes
• Houston Astros minor leaguer Runelvys Hernandez was suspended 50 games after testing positive for an amphetamine.
The pitcher's penalty will take effect at the start of next season, the commissioner's office said. Hernandez most recently was with Class AAA Round Rock of the Pacific Coast League. Hernandez made four starts for the Astros this season, going 0-3 with an 8.38 ERA.
• First baseman Kevin Youkilis was back in Boston's lineup against the Texas Rangers on Saturday after missing the series opener to attend to a family matter. Youkilis' three-run shot in the third got the Red Sox within 7-4.
• Rangers DH Milton Bradley was scratched from the starting lineup Saturday night against Boston because of left wrist soreness.
• Evan Longoria was activated off the 15-day DL after the Tampa Bay slugger said he felt "almost 100 percent" after 30 swings with a regular bat.
• Orioles reliever Jim Johnson is apparently done for the season with a shoulder injury.

"The doctors and trainers are suggesting that I get shut down for the rest of the year. There are some things in there that will heal over time with a little bit of treatment," the right-hander said Saturday.
• Dodgers RHP Greg Maddux, a winner of 354 career games, was originally scheduled to face Diamondbacks LHP Randy Johnson, a 294-game winner, in today's game. Instead, it will be 20-year-old LHP Clayton Kershaw (3-5) going against 24-year-old RHP Max Scherzer (0-2). Dodgers manager Joe Torre thinks Kershaw matches up well against the Diamondbacks, and Johnson was scratched because of a sore left shoulder.
• The Chicago White Sox designated knuckleballer Charlie Haeger for assignment and purchased from Class AAA Charlotte the contract of infielder-outfielder Jason Bourgeois, who was selected by Seattle in the Rule 5 draft in 2005. Bourgeois has no major-league experience.
• San Diego pitcher Chad Reineke is out for the season with a shoulder injury, and the Padres called up right-hander Mike Ekstrom and infielder Drew Macias from Class AA San Antonio.
