TACOMA — Matt Tuiasosopo hit a grand slam and Wladimir Balentien followed with a solo home run during a six-run fourth inning as Tacoma beat Albuquerque 12-6 in a Pacific Coast League game at Cheney Stadium Monday night.
Rob Johnson went 3 for 4 with a double and three runs batted as the Rainiers (61-55) made the most of 10 hits and two big innings. In addition to the big fourth, they scored four in the eight.
Ryan Rowland-Smith (2-0), being converted from a reliever to a starter by the Mariners, pitched six innings for the victory. He allowed six hits and two earned runs while striking out four.
