NL | What's wrong with the Reds' Bronson Arroyo? Nothing, it seems

Bronson Arroyo wishes there was an obvious reason for his horrid start, some nagging injury that could be blamed.
No such explanation.
Cincinnati's No. 2 starter got checked out by the trainers on Monday and didn't hear anything that he didn't already knew. Physically, he's never been better.
"I feel good," Arroyo said, a day after he got pounded in a loss to Atlanta. "I don't even have one ache."
That's why he has become the Reds' biggest enigma during their 13-20 start. The right-hander lasted just 1-1/3 innings Sunday, his earned-run average inflating to 8.63 and his record falling to 1-4 in seven starts.
People are trying to find something to fix, and so far they've come up with nothing.
"I'm searching, you know what I mean?" said manager Dusty Baker, who wanted Arroyo to get checked out for some physical flaw. "I'm searching like everybody else. I didn't know what else to put the finger on."
Arizona: Just 26 days after surgery for thyroid cancer, LHP Doug Davis felt strong during a 65-pitch simulated game. "I really felt like I was in the shape I need to be in to compete," said Davis, who had his thyroid and surrounding tissue removed on April 10. He is scheduled to pitch for Class AAA Tucson on Saturday or Sunday and will make one more start in the minors before rejoining Arizona's rotation.
Chicago: Aramis Ramirez missed his third straight game with a sore left wrist, which was hit by a pitch on Friday. When Ramirez tested the wrist on Monday, "he took three or four swings and had to stop," manager Lou Piniella said.
Cincinnati: RH reliever David Weathers (elbow) was activated from the 15-day disabled list. LH reliever Bill Bray was optioned to AAA Louisville to open a roster spot.
Colorado: RHP Kip Wells will have surgery today for a blood clot in his right hand. No date has been set for his return.
Philadelphia: SS Jimmy Rollins (ankle) went 4 for 4 with two RBI in an extended spring training game. He is scheduled to play in another extended spring game today, and hopes to rejoin the Phillies Thursday or Friday.
St. Louis: RHP Mike Parisi made his major-league debut, pitching two scoreless innings.
